Salva Kiir asks South Sudanese to forgive him
The President of the Country Salva Kiir Mayardit has today asked the citiens of the country to forgive him for any mistakes he might have committed. He made the plea during the launch of the National Dialogue in the parliament.
“In the spirit of national unity, forgiveness and dialogue, I’m asking you, the people of South Sudan to forgive me for any mistakes I might have committed. This is the spirit our country needs and we must act now”, President Salva Kiir says.
Many actors in the country were quick to praise the President for the bold speech.
“I am delighted to hear President Kiir reach out to his people with such strong and heartfelt words and launch this much-needed National Dialogue initiative”, said Festus Mogae of the Joint Monitoring and Evaluation Council.
“The President has seized a critical opportunity for national reconciliation, appealed for a spirit of forgiveness and togetherness and set in motion a genuine campaign to address the concerns and grievances of the South Sudanese people” Mogae added before applauding Kiir’s leadership and promising JMEC’s full support to the initiative.
